Good for these jobs

  • App screen checks

Check how a mobile app looks in each country through local mobile IPs.

  • Mobile ad checks

See ads that only show to phone users.

  • Mobile web checks

Check pages that look different only in mobile browsers.

  • Mobile first services

Connect to services that work based on a mobile environment.

Mobile proxies: how they work

  1. 1

    Carrier IPs

Carrier mobile IPs are shared by many users, so you appear in the same environment as phone users.

  2. 2

    type-mobile in the username

Add type-mobile to the username to go out through a mobile IP. Pick mobile in the dashboard and it is added for you.

  3. 3

    Pay for what you use

Like residential proxies, you pay by traffic used (GB).

Mobile proxies: connection example

Enter the host, port, username and token to connect. The example below sends a request through a US IP and checks the IP in the response.

curl

curl -x http://gate.proxytoo.com:7000 \
  -U "user-type-mobile-country-us:YOUR_TOKEN" \
  https://ipinfo.io/json

Replace YOUR_TOKEN with the token you got at sign up.

What are mobile proxies and when do you need them?

You need mobile proxies when a site or app responds differently depending on whether a visitor is on a phone network. A mobile proxy sends requests through the IPs carriers assign to smartphones and tablets, so the other side sees a user on mobile data.

ProxyToo mobile proxies take $2.18 per GB from your balance for the traffic you use. You pay only for what you need instead of committing to a term, which keeps occasional QA work light on the budget.

The same balance pays for residential, ISP and datacenter proxies too. Route only the requests that truly need a mobile network through mobile and send the rest through other products.

If you are new to it, pick a few screens you want to check and run a small test. Knowing how much data one check uses lets you plan future costs accurately.

How do mobile proxies work technically?

On mobile networks, many phones share a small number of public IPs. Carrier equipment gathers connections from many devices behind one IP, so requests from many people on one mobile IP look perfectly normal.

You connect through the same gateway as other products, gate.proxytoo.com:7000; the only change is adding type-mobile to the username. For example, user-type-mobile-country-gb exits through a UK carrier mobile IP. The password field takes your pt_ account token.

HTTP and SOCKS5 are both supported, so browser automation, app traffic inspection tools and command line tests all connect with the same details.

  • Same gateway address as other products.
  • Add type-mobile to the username.
  • Set the country with the country value.
  • HTTP and SOCKS5 both work.

What are mobile proxies best used for?

Mobile proxies fit best when you check results only phone users see or test services built around a mobile flow. These are jobs where the environment of each request matters more than the request count.

App store rank tracking is a classic case. The same keyword can list apps in a different order on the store's web pages depending on country and network, so checking through local mobile IPs gets results closer to what real phone users see.

They also suit checking landing pages after deep links and ad clicks, verifying mobile only coupons or promo pages and testing sign up flows done on a phone. Each of these moves little data per run, so the total cost stays small.

For volume jobs like collecting tens of thousands of listing pages, residential or unlimited residential is the better fit. Mobile delivers the most when you focus it on the final checks that truly need a phone environment.

  • App store rank checks by region
  • Deep link landing page checks
  • Mobile only promo page checks
  • Phone sign up flow testing
  • Page comparison on local carrier networks

How do you target countries with mobile proxies?

Set the country for mobile proxies with the country value in the username, choosing from the 56 countries that have mobile IPs today. In Create connection details in the dashboard, pick mobile and a country and both type-mobile and the country are added to the username for you.

Mobile proxies target at country level. Phone IPs often serve wide areas, so country level results are the natural baseline for mobile checks. When you also need city level comparison, view the same page through residential proxies with city targeting.

Country codes are two lowercase letters such as gb, us or jp. When comparing several countries, use a separate session name per country so your records show which country's IP produced each result.

When choosing countries, start with the main markets of the app or service you are checking. Cover the country with the most users first, then add markets you plan to enter, and you get the key results first on few GB.

How do sessions and IP rotation work with mobile proxies?

Mobile proxies keep the same IP for up to 120 minutes with a session name and switch to a new mobile IP on every request without one. Use a session for checks that step through screens like a phone user, and rotation for comparing the same page across many IPs.

For multi step flows like a sign up form or the screen right before payment, keep the steps short enough to finish inside one session. Finishing in one session lets the service treat you as the same user and carry the flow through naturally.

Putting the country and job name in the session name keeps your logs readable. For a UK sign up check, use something like gbsignup1, then switch to gbsignup2 next time to check again from a fresh IP.

To compare one page across many mobile IPs, drop the session name and load the same URL several times. Each request leaves from a different IP, so you quickly see how consistent the page looks within one country.

How much do mobile proxies cost?

Mobile proxy pricing is $2.18 per GB multiplied by the data you actually move. Jobs with few requests, such as page checks, move little data and often cost less than you expect.

Say each page load averages 2 MB and you check 100 pages a day in each of 5 countries. That is about 1 GB a day, or about $2.18 a day at the current rate and about $65.40 over 30 days.

Sending only the requests that need a mobile network through mobile cuts costs further. Route 2 GB of a 10 GB job through mobile and 8 GB through residential and you pay about $10.60, under half of the roughly $21.80 for sending it all through mobile.

A $300 top up adds a 30% bonus for a $390 balance, which is about 178.9 GB of mobile traffic. Your balance never expires, so it keeps working even when your checks are spread out over months.

Mobile proxies vs residential and other types: which should you choose?

Choose mobile when you truly need a phone network and residential proxies when a home IP is enough. Residential costs $0.78 per GB and adds city targeting, while mobile's strength is the carrier network itself.

For account work that needs one IP for months, ISP proxies are the fit, and for collection that pulls huge amounts of data each day, unlimited residential is the fit. Mobile gives the best value on small amounts of traffic checked in exactly the right environment.

Datacenter proxies have low monthly prices per IP and are great for basic checks of your own service or targets that accept datacenter IPs. Confirm page structure through datacenter or residential first, then do only the final check on mobile to save GB.

How do you set up mobile proxies and fix common issues?

Save the pt_ token from sign up to a file and top up in the checkout window, and you are ready. Mobile proxies are billed from your balance as you use them, so just pick mobile and a country in Create connection details and copy the HTTP, SOCKS5 or curl format you need.

In browser automation, pair the proxy with the phone emulation settings in Puppeteer or Playwright so screen size, browser details and IP all match a phone user. The more of these line up, the closer your results get to what a real phone shows.

If a connection fails, first check that type-mobile is spelled correctly in the username and that the country code is one with mobile IPs. Then check the token in the password field and your balance to find the cause quickly.

  • Check the spelling of type-mobile.
  • Pair it with phone emulation settings.
  • Load images and video only when needed.
  • Finish connected flows in one session.

Mobile proxies FAQ

  • Which countries have mobile IPs?

56 countries right now. If you pick a country without mobile IPs, you connect through a residential IP.

  • Why is the price per GB higher than residential proxies?

Carrier mobile networks have fewer IPs available and cost more. They are best for jobs that really need a mobile environment.

  • Can I keep the same IP?

Add a session name to keep the same IP for up to 120 minutes.
